At Tautoro School
Why I love Tautoro School
I think Tautoro School is incredible because our class gets to grow plants with Whaea Hera. In Room 3 we to read to Whaea Hilary and Mrs Graham.
At Tautoro School we have chomebooks to help us with our learning. We use the waka hoe to help us to achieve our best learning and our best behaviour.
In Room 3 we work hard to achieve our learning goals. We write stories so we can get better at it.
Every Thursday we have dance with Whaea Dorothy. At the end of the term we have to dance in front of other people, like our families and friends.
Also we get to have sport with Matua Matt. We learn skills to play sport like Rippa rugby, basketball, multi-sports, and hockey.
So that’s why Tautoro School is the best in the world.

Recount Writing: At my nana's and papa's wedding.
At my papas and nanas wedding.
On Saturday morning my dad and mum were going to my dad’s friends fight in Auckland. So my nana had to look after us while my mum and dad were gone with my older sister and older brother. First I went to have breakfast because everyone else had breakfast. After that my nana came over to pick us up to go to the wedding in Taheke. My dad had to drop us off half way there because it was nearly time for them to go. Then we were nearly to the marae. It was as hot as fire flames. So my nan went fast as a racing car. When were finish it was a long time to wait because it was at 11.30pm. While we were waiting it was even hotter than before. Later on the wedding started. It took a long time but when every mihi finished we sang songs. 2 of them were Tautoro songs like He honore and Te Pou. When the wedding was finished we had a BBQ for lunch. Finally we went home.
What a brilliant day at my papa’s and nana’s wedding.

Seeds to feed
When we started growing seeds I felt thrilled because I thought that we couldent grow plants from seeds. But then when we were growing and caring for the plants for 9 weeks.
I learnt that plants need air, soil, water, the right temprture and nutrins to grow healthy.
We have grown plants for our school market day. We are selling lot of plants like tomatos, sweetcorn, courgettes, squash, purple tansy, sun flowers, and silver beet.
If we sell all of our plants we will make like $200 or more for our class. That is so exciting because our seeds cost us nothing. We will be making a BIG profit.

We should play sports every day.

Firstly I think we should play sports every day because we can be fit when we are exercising and running around.
Secondly I think we should play sports every day because we can work as a team by sharing the ball.
Another reason I think we should play sports every day is because when you're running you can get oxygen when we have fresh air.
Lastly I think we should play sports every day because we can learn skills like when you're with the ball you can learn dribbling, kicking, stepping and throwing the ball.
So that’s why I think we should play sports every day.

At the beach.
16/10/2017.
Yippy yi yay! On a lovely Saturday morning I woke up and my Dad said, “Come on you sleepy heads come and have breakfast.” He wanted us to hurry up because we were going at 9.30 to the beach. It was Paihia beach. First me and my sister Jean went upstairs to have breakfast. I had porridge that my mum makes. She makes delicious porridge. It was as yummy as pancake. Then when I finished my breakfast I went to get my stuff ready. I got my spare clothes so I could have a swim. When I was just finished everybody was finished as well. Me and Taonga went to play outside. We started to play hide and go seek. Taonga was it. He couldn't find me. It was so hard. Then my big sisters came out and asked, “What are you playing?” We both shouted, “Hide and go seek!” We had a dog. He was playing with us too. He was hiding with me so I said, “Don’t bark or Taonga will find us.” So my dog did not do anything. He just sat there. Later on they all found me. Shortly after Taonga found me, we were ready to go. “Yay! Finally we’re going!” we shouted.
It was a long way to get to the beach. When we got there, I asked my mum and dad, “Can we go to Waitangi please?” My mum said, “Why do you want to go there?” I said, “Because that's our activity.” So they both said, “O.K. let's go then.” When we were finished at Waitangi we went back to the beach. When we got to the beach I saw a lot of people. There were over 80 people. Some were swimming, some were walking along the beach, some were having a picnic, some were building sandcastles and some were just sitting on the sand.
We were excited to be at the beach. We had a lovely swim and we did lots of beach activities. It was a cool fun day for me and my family.

At the beach
On Friday my family and I went to the Opononi beach to swim in the splashy waves.
First we zoomed in the car to the beautiful sandy beach.
We could see the big huge waves. I felt the wind. The wind was as cold as ice. I wanted to dive into the water but the wind was making me feel cold so I thought I better wait till it got warmer. So we played on the beach for a little while.
The sun started to shine and the wind stopped blowing.
“Yay!” we shouted. “It’s time for a swim.”
When I hopped in the water I was surprised because the water was warm. I had a nice swim.
After that I asked my mum and dad if I could go and play in the waves with my boogie board. My dad said, “Yes but be careful.” So I rushed to get my boogie board out of the car. The waves came in huge. They splashed and crashed on me and my sister and pushed us up on to the beach.
It was so cool and fun.
What a fantastic day at the beach.

Secondly I think kapahaka is important because it helps us to learn Te Reo Maori. When we sing the words they are in Te Reo Maori.
Another reason why I think kapahaka is important is because we can keep the beat when we do the actions.
Lastly I think kapahaka is important because so we can keep kapahaka and never lose it. We will always remember the songs and the actions.

Recount Writing Tautoro Cross Cantry
I am learning to use the correct structure and language for Recount Writing.
Tautoro Cross Country
“Ready set go!” yelled Whaea Rosina.
I sprinted off with the others. I was running with the 7 year olds. It was a Wednesday morning at the Padlie farm. We were having our Tautoro School Cross Country race.
I felt that I wanted to run fast. Some of the 7 year olds were really fast. They were as fast as a racing car.
I felt keen that I was going to run faster and faster. It was a long race. Our group had to do 2 laps around the course. When I was on my first lap I boosted off like a rocket ship but on my second one I started to slow down. I got a stitch on my second lap. It felt like I was getting stabbed with a knife. It was very painful. When I was running up and down the hill I was breathing fast and hard. My lungs felt that they were going to explode.
When I went around the corner I could hear my dad yelling “Go Mana go!” I never gave up because I used the hoe of kaha and tumaia. Later on I overtook 3 girls that were in front of me in the corner because I ran as fast as a rocket ship. I finally got to the finish line. I was so tired but happy to get to the end of my race. I went to Whaea Dawnette to mark me off and to see where I came in my race.
I was really happy and proud of myself when Whaea Dawnette told me that I came second for RED team.
I raced to tell my dad the awesome news. When we were at the start of the race I said that I wouldn't make it to the Ohaeawai School Cross Country race but in the end I did make it to Ohaeawai. I felt super happy with my race.

When we were finished our tea. Nana went downstairs to get our Treasure Hunt ready. I felt amazed and I couldn’t wait to start hunting for treasure. When the Treasure Hunt was ready Nan told us to hunt for Lollies. We raced off. There was a competition to see who could get the most lollies.
After a while all of us found all of the lollies. Me and my sister Jean found the most lollies. Jean got the most. She got 12 and I got 10. I just needed 2 more and I would have had 12. I loved the Treasure Hunt. It was so much fun.
Next we had our movie night. We watched Moana again. We had chocolate popcorn. It was yummy as well. It was as yummy as a malted chocolate. I love chocolate more than strawberry. I felt amazed.
